St. Bernard Parish

Parish Description

Saint Bernard Parish is a Eucharistic community, nurtured by the Sacraments and Scripture, which promotes gospel values and engages in the evangelizing mission of Jesus Christ. We dedicate ourselves to protecting life at every state and to embracing good stewardship of our time, talent, and treasure in support of our parish ministries. We seek to foster in our members a strong family life, lifelong faith formation, commitment to service, peace, and justice advocacy, respect for diversity, and a spirit of harmony and reconciliation.

Information

We have a group designed for each age bracket you are in! First is our newly formed God Squad which invites our younger children in grades 5 and 6 (ages 10 and 11) to begin their own faith journey and explore their faith through different cooperative activities rooted in the Gospel. We have our Confirmation Candidates in grade 7 (ages 12 - 13) that participate in many service projects and community events. Our regular group meetings are for teens from ages 13 to 17 years old. We host specific High School Nights for Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. We continue the faith journey with our College Ministry for those 18 - 22 and are attending college/university. We do not graduate from our faith and so we invite our young adults to come together in confraternity with other faithful people ranging in age from 21 to 30 years old in our Young Adult Ministry. Many of our young adults and college students have become Virtus trained and continue as volunteers for our other programs. All programs allow those in our community to come together with their peers as well as members of the Parish to socialize in a faith-filled setting, to have time to explore their faith with others who are also on a faith journey and to explore ways to live their faith in service to the community in which they live. It is not a club; it is not a commitment to every week or even every event. It is a call to come to know your faith and community better, as each individual schedule allows.
